Basketballghana.com can report the first episode of the ground breaking documentary “Why Not Us” has aired on American sports channel ESPN.

The first episode aired on December 12 (December 13 West Africa Time); the documentary focuses on the men’s basketball of North Carolina Central University.

Budding basketball star Kobby Ayetey is in his final season with North Carolina Central after spending two seasons at Baltimore City Community College prior.

The multi episode piece is Executive Produced by NBA star Chris Paul of Phoenix Suns and multiple Award winning Broadcaster Stephen A. Smith.

North Carolina Central is an HBCU (Historically Black University/College) and the theme is centered on the perseverance of black athletes at the University at a time that racial tensions are higher than ever in the United States.

6 foot 6 inch Ayetey plays the Small Forward/Power Forward position and is averaging 3.2 points and 1.8 rebounds in 12.8 minutes across five games this season.

He is studying for a degree in Behavioural and Social Sciences at North Carolina Central.
