Basketballghana.com understands Australian Liz Mills is the only Female Trainer in a Head Coaching capacity in the upcoming round of qualification games to the 2021 AfroBasket.

Mills is leading Kenya’s Senior Men’s National Basketball Team (The Morans) in the final window of qualification games for the African Nations Basketball Championship.

The East African nation is scheduled to be in action from February 19 to February 21 in Yaounde, Cameroon in Group B. However games in Groups A, D and E commence on Wednesday, February 17 in Monastir, Tunisia.

Kenya ranks third in Group B with four points behind Senegal (six points from winning three games) and Angola (five points from winning two of three games). Mozambique occupies the last position with three points.

The top three nations progress to this year’s AfroBasket and Mills (though appointed on a temporary basis) is expected to lead Kenya to its first continental competition in 28 years.

Mills has coaching experience on the continent through her stint with Rwandan side Patriots.
