Basketballghana.com can confirm a handful of teams including Mali’s AS Police and Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers have arrived in Kigali, Rwanda to compete in the inaugural edition of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

The competition takes place later this month from May 16 to May 30 at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda with 12 teams representing 12 nations due to compete in the NBA- FIBA Africa tournament.

Nigeria representative, Hoopers, Touched down in Kigali on Monday and got tested before heading into a 24 hour mandatory quarantine. The team will go through three more days of quarantine in the bubble hotel before team activities begin.

Hoopers has been drawn in Group A of the tournament with home side Patriots, US Monastir from Tunisia, AS Douanes from Senegal and GNBC from Madagascar.

After a series of round robin games, the top two teams progress automatically to the next round with two of the best third placed teams joining them. There are three groups at the preliminary stage.

Hoopers qualified from Zone 3 for the tournament at the expense of Ghana side Braves of Customs.
