Basketballghana.com can report Nigeria’s National Men’s Basketball Team (D’Tigers) has missed out on bagging its first win at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Earlier today, the team lost 92-99 to Germany in its second outing at the Games. Nigeria lost its first matchup against Australia 67-84 while missing 12 of 24 free throw attempts.

Against Germany, the West African nation shot the ball better from the free throw line (converted seven of 12 shots) but a fourth quarter blip cost the team its first win in the tournament.

With the score tied at 74 heading into the fourth quarter, Germany came through in the final moments to clinch a 24-14 fourth quarter win to seal victory.

The Germans were weary of another late collapse after falling to Italy in the previous contest in similar fashion. Jordan Nwora scored 33 points in 30 minutes and was one of only two Nigerian players to score in double figures.

Johannes Voigtmann and Moritz Wagner led Germany with 19 and 17 points respectively. Nigeria must beat Italy and hope for Australia to beat Germany to stand a chance of progression.
