Former President of the United States of America Barack Obama has expressed how proud he is to join NBA Africa as a strategic partner for the subset of the world’s richest and most popular basketball league-the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The announcement was recently made with the renowned Politician who is an avid basketball fan, set to take up a minority stake in the organization.

NBA Africa has rolled out several programs to develop the youth of Africa through basketball and education including the Basketball Without Borders program and NBA Africa Academy.

“I’ve been impressed by the league’s commitment to Africa, including the leadership shown by so many African players who want to give back to their own countries and communities.  That’s why I’m proud to join the team at NBA Africa and look forward to a partnership that benefits the youth of so many countries” Ex President Obama said in an interview with the NBA.

NBA Africa wrapped up the first edition of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) earlier this year that had clubs from African countries compete at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda for the continental championship.
