Lighters (blue) v Eff-Ess

Lighters Basketball Club Head Coach Duncan Weir has tagged his team’s loss in the opening game of the 2022 Western Basketball Association (WBA) League loss to inexperience.

He said this in an exclusive interview after Lighters lost 20-31 to fellow young team Eff-Ess Academy on Day One of the new season. All games in the League are played with a running time format. (Click highlighted text to read match report)

After struggling to score in the first half, Lighters had a good brief spell early in the third quarter of the game played at the Takoradi Technical University (TTU) Court.

“My team is a new team with more of freshers who are now experiencing the league…it was because of lack of experience. It’s the first game…my boys did well they played well but they are yet to still get the experience to better themselves to play as a team and grow more” he said.

Seven teams are competing in this season’s league with the top four ranked teams at the end of the regular season slated to play in the postseason.
