Basketballghana.com gathers American Guard Jarred Harrington has departed South African side Cape Town Tigers to join Cobra Sport of South Sudan.

This comes ahead of the start of the Nile Conference Games in the 2022 Basketball Africa League (BAL); games in the Sahara Conference concluded earlier this month in Dakar, Senegal.

Harrington played for Cape Town Tigers during the team’s extensive qualification run to the main BAL competition but was approached by Cobra when Cape Town’s status in the continental competition was up in the air.

Cape Town qualified to the upcoming edition of BAL winning a deciding game against Burundi’s New Star via forfeit due to COVID 19 related cases in the camp of New Star.

“It was a personal decision for me. I didn’t want to be in the air — trying to figure out whether they [Cape Town] were going to qualify or not. My contract [with the Tigers] was ending when the qualifiers ended. I was signed to help them qualify” he said.

The team will face off when the Nile Conference games run from April 9 to April 19 in Cairo, Egypt. Zamalek, Petro de Luanda, FAP and Espoir Fuaksh are the remaining teams in the Conference.
