Basketballghana.com can confirm Rwanda Energy Group (REG) Basketball Team has departed Rwanda with Turkey as its destination ahead of the team’s training weeklong camp in the European nation.

This comes on the heel of REG’s participation in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) Playoffs later this month at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda. The playoffs run from May 21 to May 28.

The team is expected to return to Kigali on May 15 to finalize preparations for the FIBA Africa-NBA continental tournament’s postseason. Ghana’s biggest basketball portal gathers REG will play at least two friendly games in Turkey.

REG topped the Sahara Conference with four wins and a loss to progress to the playoff stage ahead of 2021 Finalist US Monastir. The Sahara Conference games were played in Dakar, Senegal.

The Rwandan side is set to Cameroon side FAP in the first round of the playoffs with the winner scheduled to face off against either Petro de Luanda of Angola or AS Sale from Morocco in the semis.

Egypt side Zamalek won the 2021 title that double as the maiden title win in the competition’s history.
