Basketballghana.com can confirm the University of Ghana (UG) Men’s Basketball Team has missed progression to the semifinals of the Federation of African Universities Sports [FASU] Games.

The Guerillas rolled into Kenya and the Kenyatta University specifically for this year’s FASU Games as two time defending champions on the back of bagging gold medals at the 2016 and 2018 editions.

UG lost 64-65 to host Kenyatta University and lost to University of Johannesburg 62-69 in the follow up game in Pool A. Kenyatta beat Johannesburg to top the Pool.

Coach Eric Agyapong Ankamah’s team has been officially eliminated from the competition finishing bottom of the Pool with University of Johannesburg in second place.

A very young UG team side traveled to Kenya as Ghana’s sole representative at the Games unlike previous editions that Guerillas spot a veteran heavy roster.

The multi sport competition ends later today; this year’s FASU Games had 40 Universities representing 14 countries on the continent compete.
