The maiden edition of the Basketball Honours has been successfully held at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Headquarters in Ghana’s capital, Accra.
The splendid night commenced with guests treated to cocktails at the RITE Sports Limited powered event; the Award scheme was set up to recognize people and organizations key to success stories of basketball development in Ghana.
Boxing Legend Azumah Nelson, former Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) President David Addo Ashong, GBBA Treasurer Aurora Commodore-Toppar and top dignitaries from various education institutions and corporate bodies were present at the event.
Mfantsipim School and Aggrey Memorial Zion School were the biggest winners on the night in the High School division while University of Ghana (UG) topped at the tertiary level.
Mfantsipim walked away with wins in the Best High School Coach of the Year (Male Division) and Best High School Boys Basketball Team Categories.
Aggrey Memorial scored wins in the Best High School Coach of the Year (Female Division) and Best High School Girls Basketball Team Categories.
The highlight moment of the night was the standing ovation given to former GBBA President David Addo Ashong who won the Basketball Personality Award.
St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School won the Best Supporters Group (Male Division) while Ahantaman Girls Senior High School won the Female Division category.
The program was MC’ed by veteran Broadcaster Louis “Lexis Bill” Sakyiamah; Rapper Edem and Comedian DKB performed on the night.

Best University Male Basketball Team: Guerillas of the University of Ghana-Legon
Best University Supporters Group (Male Division): Accra Technical University.
