Basketballghana.com can confirm Ghana Forward Ben Bentil has won the 2022 Italian Serie A Basketball title after beating Virtus Bologna 81-64 in Game 6 of the best of seven games series. (Click highlighted text to watch game highlights)
Milano lost to Bologna in last season’s finals series but got revenge for the loss by getting the better of Virtus this time around despite struggling in Game 5’s loss that gave Bologna the chance to tie the series and force a Game 7.
However, Milano sealed the series with Bentil starting the game and playing 21 minutes while registering six points, two rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block for Milano.
Bentil joined Milano this season from Turkish side Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul and played a key role mostly off the bench for the Italian side. The 2022 league title is Milano’s 29th.
Teammates Luigi Datome and Shavon Shields scored 23 and 15 points respectively to lead the game in scoring. Milano won the Italian Cup earlier this season but crashed out of the Euroleague at the Quarterfinal stage to eventual Champion Anadolou Efes from Turkey.
