In his speech at the Basketball Honours, Chief Executive Office of RITE Sports Limited Yaw Sakyi Afari paid his respects to departed figures who played key roles in the success stories of basketball in Ghana.
The maiden edition of the Basketball Honours was held at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Headquarters to honour individuals and organizations instrumental in the growth of basketball in the West Africa particularly those in line with competitions built around the education system. Several Education Institution Heads, Corporate Body Representatives and Dignitaries headlined by Boxing Legend Azumah Nelson were present at the Awards.
“Unfortunately, some of the faithful and supportive ones are not here with us tonight: Mr. Dzokoto and Mr. Annang (both former National PE Coordinators), Mr. Matthias Ocloo and Mr. Antwi, Head of the Referees, Madam Barbara Nortey Pupulampo, former Headmistress of Osu Presec, Benjamin Baafi, former Chairman of the Greater Accra Basketball Association, Mr. Ewudzi Sagoe of Adisadel College, just to mention a few” he said in his speech.
Madam Barbara Nortey passed on few months after Osu-PRESEC shocked the field to win the 2016 Sprite Ball Championship.
