Police v Leopards (yellow) in 2022 ABL Men's Division I matchup

After bagging an impressive 46-44 win over serial Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I winners Braves of Customs in the previous round, Leopards have built on that result to secure a win in its follow up appearance.

Leopards beat Ghana Police Service 49-41 earlier today at the Prisons Court in Cantonments for its ninth win in 11 games in the 2022 Regular Season.

Match Report

Leslie Kormedodah scored four straight points for Leopards but Police Guard Benjamin Debrah scored one of two free throws in an individual three point scoring outing for Police. Prosper Dorsu and Nathaniel Killian traded baskets. Debrah assisted Dorsu’s jump shot from the free throw area to give Police a 9-8 first quarter lead.

Police’s lead evaporated as Kormedodah scored on a fast break and 11 laid the ball in. Dorsu tied the game at 13 by scoring a free throw. Derrick Tagoe put Police up. Samuel Cobblah drained a three for Leopards but the lead didn’t last long as Emmanuel Amoah put Police up again. Fred Ngobo stretched Police’s lead to 21-16 to end the first half.

Joseph Agger’s three point play put Leopards up 22-21 with 5:26 minutes left. Erasmus Dankwah’s three point shot off an Emmanuel Dickson assist put Police back on top but Killian’s layup tied the game at 26. Agger’s three pointer sparked a 10-0 run for Leopards to take a 36-29 third quarter lead; Jeremiah Tawiah and Emmanuel Mensah scored in this run.

Killian scored five straight points to extend Leopards lead; Dickson’s three pointer reduced Police’s deficit. With 6:46 minutes left Leopards held a 43-33 lead before David Acheampong and Tagoe scored for Police. Another Agger three pointer put the game out of touch for Police. Acheampong’s three pointer wasn’t enough to prevent Police from losing by eight points.
