In response to the incessant requests from the several Universities and Colleges in Ghana to extend our basketball programmes to cover them, Rite Multimedia has responded with the introduction of the maiden “Universities & Colleges Basketball Championship” which comes off in January 2010.

This nation-wide competition is opened to all private and public universities, polythecnics and colleges in Ghana. Venues and dates would be announced in due time.

UPAC 2011

The first ever Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges basketball competition took place in the year under review.

The competition which was sponsored by giant Telecommunication network, Tigo, brought Universities and Polytechnics under one umbrella to fight for the cash prize at stake and the bragging right.

The competition was played in three zones (Central/Western, Greater Accra, Ashanti/Brong Ahafo).

Two winners of the respective zones converged at the centre court of the University of Ghana to determine which institution was the best as far as the game was concerned.

In the end, it lived up to its pre-match hype with Accra Polytechnic winning the competition by beating the University of Education, Winneba while Takoradi Polytechnic came third in a hugely attended event.
