On 15th December 2008 SPRITE BALL, an annual inter-schools basketball tournament organised by Ritemultimedia and Sprite with support from the Ghana Education Service made a stop at the Volta Regional capital, Ho.

At the Ho sports stadium, 16 selected schools made it to the regional competition after qualifying from their various zones assembled to book their ticket for the breath- taking show down in Accra.

Volta Region considered the home of basketball in Ghana saw young talents display enviable skills and techniques match after match.

In the first semi-finals match Keta Senior High school (Ketasco) considered the favourite of the region denied Mawuli Senior High school a place in the Finale after Mawuli had dominated the first two quarters with exciting and well rehearsed goals.

The second semi-final match between Keta Business College (Ketabusco) and Akatsi Senior High (AKASEC), saw a lot of exchanges from both sides but the outstanding performance exhibited by Ketabusco in the last quarter of the game gave them a clear-cut win over the Akatsi boys, with a score standing12- 8

In the girls’ division, Nkwanta Senior High School came up tops after beating Kejebi Senior High School (11-6) in the final. The 3rd place position went to Awudome girls’.

The climax of the Volta Regional tournament saw the two city rivals Ketasco and Ketabusca in the Final. Even though the two teams were tied before the final the battle, Ketasco showed a lot of class and resilience when they took an overwhelming lead in the first quarter.

After the rim had denied Ketabusco of their goals, Ketasco reinforced their exploits and buried Ketabusco (17-12) before the blast of the final whistle.
The third place boys’ encounter between Mawuli and Akatsi went in favour of Mawuli School.

In all four boys’ teams (Ketasco, Ketabusco, Mawuli and Akasec) and three girls’ teams (Nkwanta, Kejebi and Awusco) represented the region in the 2008 National Final.
