KETA FRAMEKeta and Nkwanta Senior high schools redrafted history when they retained the Volta Regional Sprite Ball Championship in both the male and female category respectively at the Ho stadium over the weekend.

The boys from Keta exhibited great basketball skills coupled with resilience and nimbleness to complete the double over their perrenial rivals Keta Business School (Ketabusco) in front of a packed crowd.

It was the game meant for the gods as the two sides battled an intense and grudge final after a sterling performance to triump 15-12.

Ketasco showed early signs of keeping hold of the title they won last year when they crushed Kajebi Asatu 11-2 in the first game before beating Keta Business School (Ketabusco) 6-4 in a close contest during the preliminary round.

KETASCO FRAME 1The defending champions lost steam and fell to Awudome Senior High 5-10 in the final group game before they recovered quickly to beat Mawuli Senior High 9-4 in an action- packed encounter.

In the female division, Nkwanta Senior high (Nkwasec) produced an unrivalled display to dismantle six schools on their way to be crowned champions for the second successive time.

They beat Bueman Senior High 9-3 in the opening match at the Ho Stadium before they accounted for Keta Senior High, Mawuli Senior High and subsequently demolished Kajebi Asatu 10-4 in a one-sided game at the semi-final stage.

By their feat, both schools have become the first to retain a regional title and in the process booked their ticket to play in the grand finale in Accra on the 19th and 20th December, 2009 at the El-Wak Stadium.
