Kaneshie has become the first community to qualify for the semi-finals of the ongoing Community Dunks after some stellar display at the University of Ghana basketball court.

Coach Sam Tagoe’s young charges beat host Legon 28-24 on Sunday to book their place in the biggest basketball championship among communities in the Greater Accra region.

They’ve accumulated four points in two games and in an unlikely situation that they lose their final game on Saturday, they will still qualify because all the statistics are stucked in their favour.

They’re far ahead on the goal tally and have advantage on the head-to-head rule after beating both Ridge and Legon in succession.

The semi-final slot is not new to Kaneshie after they reached the same place in season-1 last year at the El-Wak stadium.

They tackle whipping boys James Town in their final game on September 25.

Community Dunks is an initiative of Rite Multimedia and sponsored by Indomie with support from 90 Minutes Newspaper and Metro TV. (Weekly highlight of the show on Metro TV on Thursday from 5:30 pm
