Kaneshie beat Ashaiman 71-64 to retain the trophy in the 2011 Indomie Community Dunks at the Aviation Social Centre over the weekend.

Ashaiman were looking good for their first title after they beat highly-rated Dansoman at the semi-final stage but crumbled under huge expectations against a resolute Kaneshie side.

The defending champions continued their ‘cat and mouse’ game with a well-rehearsed display against dark horses Maamobi-Nima in their semi-final clash before seeing off their opponent in the finals.

Coach Sam Tagoe underlined his credential as a master tactician by guiding Kaneshie to defend the trophy they won last year at the centre court of the University of Ghana.

The celebration went deep into the night following their feat and the fact that they can now boast as the most successful side in the competition.

Meanwhile Maamobi-Nima beat Dansoman to win bronze in the competition.

Dansoman shockingly looked out of sort on the day and found their opponents difficult to handle. It looked as if something had hit Nigerian-born coach Ferrami Olulonyo side as they struggled against Ashaiman and Nima and settled for the fourth spot.

The event was attended by top dignitaries in the sports arena including the Chairman of the Ghana Basketball Association, David Addo-Ashong, two-time WBC Super Featherweight champion Professor Azumah Nelson and the Chairman of the Greater Accra Basketball Association Benjamin Baafi amongst others.
