owass 2Opoku Ware School will play a friendly game against a local based side Patase Invaders at 15:00 GMT on Wednesday at the school’s basketball court in Kumasi.

The game forms part of a series of activities lined up to prepare the school’s basketball team for the 2016 Sprite Ball Championship that is set to take place between January 3-7 next year at El-Wak Stadium in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

Having already secured qualification to one of the biggest basketball competitions in West Africa, Team OWASS has been feverishly fine tuning conditioning and drills in anticipation for a deep run in the tournament.

Semi finalists in the past two editions of Sprite Ball, OWASS are motivated to go a step further and realize its cherished dream of winning the Ashanti Region’s first national title in the boys’ division.

OWASS will represent the region alongside Prempeh College in the boys division and defending champions T.I. AMASS and Kumasi Girls’ Senior High School in the girls’ division.

Sprite Ball Championship is an annual inter-High Schools basketball tournament in Ghana that is responsible for producing unearthing and producing top basketball talents in the country since it started in 2007.
