The 2016 Rexona Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship is set to take place between March 5 and April 16. Conversely, a series of warm up games for participating schools to fine tune their skills will precede the much awaited tournament.

Counting down to tip off later this month, Basketballghana.com takes a look at University of Education’s, (Winneba) chances heading into this year’s championship.

The Winneba-based side made a great impression in the first edition of the Championship by making it all the way to the final game before falling 30-45 to eventual champions Accra Polytechnic in the final game.

Getting to the pinnacle of tertiary basketball took a mammoth effort from Benjamin Debrah, Derrick Brefo and John Karikari and the side will have to recapture such stellar performances to once again make a mark in the Championship.

After missing out on last year’s edition, UEW returns with a mission to contend for the trophy which eluded them four years ago.

The 2016 UPAC Basketball Championship is sponsored by Rexona and supported by CAL Bank, Fanyogo and MTN in partnership with media outlets including TV3, Y FM and Basketballghana.com and Graphic Sports.
