The 2016 Rexona Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship is set to take place between March 5 and April 16. Conversely, a series of warm up games for participating schools to fine tune their skills will precede the much awaited tournament.

Counting down to tip off later this month, takes a look at Valley View University’s chances heading into this year’s championship.

The institution prides itself in being Ghana’s first private tertiary institution to be awarded national accreditation just as it does on the basketball court. The institution will compete at the UPAC Championship aiming to produce outstanding performances to qualify out of a strong group.

Valley View face a daunting task as they go up against defending champions Accra Polytechnic, Blue Crest College and Zenith University College in Zone F beginning April 1.

The UPAC Championship will be held between March 5 and April 16 with best-selling deodorant Rexona as headline sponsors. 28 tertiary institutions will compete against each other for a shot at claiming Ghana tertiary basketball’s biggest trophy.

This year’s Championship will be the third edition following successful competitions in previous years dating back to 2011. Accra Polytechnic are the two time winners of the championship.

The 2016 UPAC Basketball Championship is supported by CAL Bank, Fanyogo and MTN in partnership with media outlets including TV3, Y FM and and Graphic Sports.
