Marshalls University College head coach James Okine has launched a scathing attack on organizers and officials of the just ended Private Universities Students’ Association (PUSAG) Games basketball competition.
Marshalls University won the basketball male division in the three day event which was held at El-Wak Stadium in Ghana’s capital, Accra. The team beat Radford University College 44-42 after two over time periods to end the tournament as undefeated champions.
Despite the win, Okine was not impressed with officials output in the competition. Speaking to Basketballghana.com, the enigmatic coach said:
“I think the organizers have to organize the thing (games) well and the officiating was very bad but we fought through it. Though we robbed we were still made it to the top…the organization and officiating was very poor honestly”.
“We have come very far in basketball as a nation and we deserve better than what they did. Hope next year they will organize something better that can attract more people to come around and watch”.
Ghana Technology University College-Accra placed third with Regent University College coming in fourth. 2015 champions Zenith University College failed to make it out of Group G; falling to Evangelical Presbyterian University College and Kings University College.
Valley View University won the ladies division by winning all games against Islamic University, Central University and Presbyterian University Colleges’respectively.
