Accra Polytechnic will represent Zone F in the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship quarter finals which takes place on April 14 at the University of Ghana. This will be a third straight appearance for Accra Poly in the last eight of the competition.

The team booked a spot in this year’s edition following an undefeated run in Zone F which enabled them to top the zone. Accra Poly defeated Valley View University 59-24, Zenith University College 44-33 and Blue Crest College 27-23 in three games played before a raucous partisan crowd at the institution.

With Valley View University as the only team to record more than one win, the two-time and defending champions, Accra Polytechnic topped the zone with an unassailable lead to qualify as winners where they will face winners from other zones in the country.

University of Development Studies-Tamale, University of Energy and Natural Resources, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Takoradi Polytechnic have already booked spot in the next round.

Winners of the seven zones qualify automatically for the quarter finals. However, runner up Valley View University stands a chance of making it to the last eight as a result of amassing two wins which means an inferior point difference between second placed teams in Zones A and G will put Valley View through.

The 2016 UPAC Championship is supported by MTN, Fanyogo and CAL Bank in partnership with Basketballghana.com, TV3, Y FM and Ghana Sports Newspaper.
