Fixtures for quarter final games in the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship will be made today in a live draw on premium basketball program “Fastbreak” to be shown on Ghana television channel TV3 between 13:00 GMT and 14:30 GMT.

The fixtures draw comes just hours after groupings for qualified teams were announced. All teams have been put in two groups containing four teams each and the top two teams will progress to the semis following a round robin series of matchups.

The fixtures will determine how the eight finalists will compete in the second round of the competition. All teams with the exception of one topped seven zones in different parts of the country to qualify.

Marshalls University College placed second in Zone G but made it into the draw by having a superior goal difference than fellow contenders Valley View University and Ho Polytechnic in Zones A and F.

In Group A, two-time and defending champions Accra Polytechnic will engage debutants University of Development Studies-Tamale, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and Zone G champions University of Ghana.

Group B has last year’s beaten finalists Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology alongside, Takoradi Polytechnic, Marshalls University College and Zone C champions University of Energy and Natural Resources who are making their debut in the competition.

The first leg of Quarter final games will be played at Accra Polytechnic on April 14 with the next round of games, semi finals and final game, to be played on April 15 and 16 at the University of Ghana.

The 2016 UPAC Championship is headlined by Rexona, supported by Fanyogo, MTN and CAL Bank in partnership with Basketballghana.com, Y FM, TV3 and Ghana Sports Newspaper.
