Takoradi Polytechnic head coach Owusu Ansah Ankrah strongly believes his side will be able to match up to opponents in the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship quarter finals.

The quarter finals will be played at Accra Polytechnic on April 14 and April 15 at the University of Ghana. Takoradi Poltechnic has been drawn in Group B and will compete against Marshalls University College, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and University of Energy and Natural Resources for a spot in the semis.

Speaking ahead of the quarter final games, Ansah was confident his side, after winning the tricky Zone E, will compete well ag

“Our chances are bright and we are positive to emerge as winners of this group of death. I was in Accra…to watch Marshalls play and I can tell you they can’t match up to my boys”.

Marshalls lost 29-31 to hosts University of Ghana in Zone G’s decider but made it into the last eight by having a superior goal difference than contenders in other Zones in the preliminary round. Takoradi Polytechnic on the other hand piped University of Cape-Coast 49-46 to top Zone E.

Takoradi Polytechnic will face off against KNUST one again in the latter stages of the competition. Both teams met at this stage in last year’s edition as KNUST progressed to the finals.

The 2016 UPAC Championship is headlined by Rexona, supported by Fanyogo, MTN and CAL Bank in partnership with Basketballghana.com, Y FM, TV3 and Ghana Sports Newspaper.
