2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship winners University of Ghana made an appearance on premier basketball show “Fast Break” on Ghanaian channel TV 3 today.

The team, led by Captain Aziz Abubakari showed up on set with the national title they won the night before after piping then defending champions Accra Polytechnic 45-44 in a thrilling game at the University of Ghana.

Seated beside Abubakari, Tournament Most Valuable Player Muhaimin Guba and Power Forward Maxwell Mod took turns in answering questions by Host Yaw Sakyi Afari which included training practices and key game strategies.

Addressing the arduous journey to the national title, Mod highlighted certain instances where the team’s aspirations of lifting the most coveted trophy in tertiary basketball looked bleak. One of such instances was UG’s last but one possession which restored the team’s lead thanks to a deep three point shot from Emmanuel Wolff with 13 seconds to play.

UG coach Meme Falconer was not present in the studio due to a private emergency he had to attend to. However, the Coach of the Tournament was able to join in the conversation via phone where he expressed his immense gratitude to his players and the institution’s administrators.

The reigning GUSA (Ghana Universities Sports Association) Champions will compete in an invitational tournament oversees in the coming months.

Fast Break is a top rated Ghanaian basketball show that is televised on TV3 between 13:00 and 14:30 GMT on Sunday.
