Takoradi Polytechnic’s participation in the just ended Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship has been “fruitful” according to the head coach of the team Owusu Ansah Ankrah.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com after his side placed fourth in the highly competitive basketball competition, Ankrah expressed satisfaction with his charges output though the team failed to capture a medal. He said:

“Our participation in the competition (UPAC) has been fruitful and exciting. The challenge has been good for the boys and I think that we need lots of such opportunities to build up the game of basketball.”

Takoradi Polytechnic missed out on a bronze medal after suffering a 45-48 loss to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The latter beat Takoardi Polytechnic 49-42 in the quarter finals where both teams advanced from Group B.

The group also featured University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) and Marshalls University College.

Host University of Ghana beat defending and two time winners Accra Polytechnic 45-44 in the finals to annex the trophy for the first time in the competition’s history.
