Emmanuel Wolff has been named the Most Promising Man of the Year at the Vice Chancellor’s Sports Awards held at the University of Ghana’s Central Cafeteria. The annual award ceremony honors outstanding sports personalities who distinguished themselves in the year.

This year’s event was graced by prominent individuals including Vice-Chancellor of University of Ghana Professor Ernest Aryeetey, Sports Directorate head Doctor Bella Bello Bitugu and Chief Executive Officer of Ghana’s leading basketball enterprise, Rite Sports Limited, Yaw Sakyi Afari.

The former Koforidua Secondary Technical School Shooting Guard was awarded after recording breathtaking displays to will University of Ghana’s (UG) Male basketball team to an unbeaten run in the year.

He played an instrumental role in UG downing neighbors University of Professional Studies (UPSA) 65-49 to claim gold in the Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) basketball competition in January at the University of Education-Winneba.

His dagger three-point shot gave UG a 45-44 lead late in the final game against Accra Polytechnic in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship last month. His shot which came with less than 10 seconds to play ensured UG dislodged two-time winners and defending champions Accra Polytechnic off the top of the podium.

Other individuals were also awarded for excelling in other categories which included Most Promising Sportswoman of the Year, Sportsman of the Year and Discovery of the Year.
