Speaking to Basketballghana.com, League Chairman Benjamin Baafi was in ebullient mood ahead of the anticipated matchups. He said, “Last year it was very interesting so I am hoping that this year will be better than last year.”

A new format will have the top eight teams after the first round qualify for the playoffs with the ninth and tenth teams demoted to Division II. The qualified teams will be paired according to their respective standings on the league log.

“Formerly we were playing first and second round but we have realized now things have changed so we have to play the first round and then we play the playoffs…It is international standard because when you play the playoffs you get more games to play” he said.
