The Navy basketball female team will be in confident mood when Week Three of the Accra Basketball League Women’s (ABL) Division tips off today at the Lebanon House in Tudu, Accra at 15:00 GMT following an easy win over Police Ladies in the previous round.
The interesting fact about the win was, the game never happened since Police failed to show up at the Prisons Court in Cantonments, Accra. The no show earned Navy a walk over win plus maximum points to kick start their campaign which started out on a bad note with a 37-45 loss to Air Force in the opening round.
The Police team is marred in administrative challenges which have prevented them and their male counterparts in Division II to miss games thus far. Failing to beat Air Force was a disappointing outcome for Coach Alexander Tindani but sounded very confident his team would bounce back to winning ways.
“We lost concentration during the last minutes that is how come I lost this game…I am going to work on my challenge and we will come back”. However, the team did not get the chance to test its’ mettle immediately due to Polices’ absence.
It will get ample chances to lay siege on the title with the likes of Galaxy, Prisons and defending champions Braves of Customs lined up in the coming weeks.
