Tudu Magic Coach James Okine has lashed out at his players for a disappointing loss to Tema Youth in the Accra Basketball League (ABL). The team lost 43-59 in the third week of the 2016 season which had Air Force beat Teshie Rangers 39-37 and Fire Service defeat Holy Family 69-46.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com, the outspoken coach did not hold back on criticizing his players for the limp performance they put up against a Tema side determined not to lose a second straight game. He said:

“For me it is the mind set; from the way I saw the game, my guys came in very weak. I don’t know if they weren’t prepared for this game because we should have played harder than we did right now. So I blame them (the players) for this particular loss”

When asked if his players let him down, Okine responded, “They did I am really disappointed. I wanted to beat Tema Youth but it is rather unfortunate.”

Magic lacked sharpness and intensity throughout the game as they missed live wire Evans Anfom’s infectious energy and hustle plays. The team lacked ideas on offense and didn’t fare any better on defense as Tema run riot over them to the frustration of a partisan crowd.

Tema was really in its’ elements as everything they did turned out pretty nicely including a rare three point shot from Forward Kwame Boamah Djan.
