Defending Accra Basketball League (ABL) Champions Braves of Customs showed they are head and shoulders above the competition after delivering another stunning display to win a third straight game in the 2016 season. The unfortunate team this time around was Air Force who got trounced 69-26 leaving animated head trainer Thomas Ankrah slumped in his seat for most part of the game.

Unlike prior games where the defending champs have started out slowly, Braves’ had a near perfect start as Guard Emmanuel Otu converted consecutive layups and a three pointer. Air Force, who struggled throughout the period, had a moment to savor as Point Guard Edward Sarpong beat the buzzer with a long three to end the first quarter losing 8-13.

Braves continued to turn on the style in the remaining quarters as Air Force offered very little challenge. Burly Forward Benjamin Sowah’s absence was noticeable as Braves dominated the boards; gobbling up a big chunk of rebounds. Despite moving the ball well, Air Force couldn’t convert good chances at the rim with big man Sampson Annan being the main culprit.

Conversely, Braves had no problems converting chances on the other end of the court. Baniba Dodzie and Abdul Mutaleeb Alhassan blitzed Air Force with long treys and Center Suleman Abubakar made key blocks down the stretch.
Alhassan produced the highlight of the game with a monster alley oop to finish off a one sided game where Air Force barely put up a fight.
