Braves of Customs Guard Richard Borsah has listed officiating as the reason for the team’s underperforming performances in international competitions aside inferior competition in the league. The veteran player made the statement following his side’s 69-26 win over Air Force in the fourth week of the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I.

The win extended Braves winning streak to three in the 2016 season and has pitched the multiple league winners on the path to securing yet another title. He did express concern about a few things lacking in the league that affects Braves in international tournaments.

“Comparatively, the skill set of the players in my team is far better than most of the other teams. Even officiating affects us when we go outside because most of the calls that they make here you can’t find that when you go the international stage. So it is not just about the teams that we play but the officiating also hurts us a lot”.

Braves has won the Accra Basketball League in many seasons since the league’s inception. The team features the very best of talents in the Ghana parading the likes of 2015 National Most Valuable Player of the Year Abdul Mutaleeb Alhassan, Baniba Dodzie, Hashim Brimah and Paul Gomerli.

Braves is coached by 2015 Coach of the Year, Lawal Brimah.
