Ace host and entrepreneur Yaw Sakyi Afari has been nominated for the Man of the Year Sportsmanship Award in the Exclusive Men of the Year (EMY) Awards maiden edition slated for June 18 at the State House Banquet Hall in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

The veteran Broadcaster, Entrepreneur and Philanthropist has been the face of basketball revolution in the West African country through innovative programs which nurture talented individuals through the educational system.

He has been nominated alongside Ghana National Male Football Captains Asamoah Gyan and Dede Ayew and left full back Jeffrey Schlupp, Boxer Richard Commey and Albert Frimpong from the baseball fraternity.

Through diligent work ethics and a unique ability to connect with industry players, Yaw Sakyi has successfully launched and sustained basketball programs to develop the sport in Ghana through his agency Rite Sports.

One of his initiatives, Sprite Ball, is the biggest annual high school basketball event in the country. He also hosts Ghana’s premier basketball show “Fast Break”, which airs on Ghanaian television channel TV3 on Sundays.

The EMY Awards is an initiative of Exclusive Men’s Magazine (EMM), seeks among others to honour and celebrate men of excellence, encourage leadership skills for achievement and to challenge the youth to aspire to greatness.
