University of Ghana Power Forward Maxwell Mod is adamant his side will prove “doubters” wrong when the team competes in the Africa University Games which takes place later this year. The reigning GUSA (Ghana Universities Sports Association) and UPAC (Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges) Basketball Champions will represent Ghana in the multi-sport competition.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com, Mod believes his side has what it takes to cause a stir at the games. He said:

“We are in camp training twice…three times a day. Even though some people don’t believe we are going to bring this championship to Ghana, we promise to put up a good fight and prove all doubters wrong.”

University of Ghana’s Basketball team has been on the rise since the turn of the year winning multiple championships with an enviable blend of speed, power and shooting finesse. The team benefitted from some lessons from San Antonio Power Forward David West when he visited the tertiary institution.

The 35 year old Forward who departed Ghana on Saturday was delighted with the effort and skill of the players.
