Fire Service extended Navy’s losing run in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division by beating the latter 46-40 at the Prisons Court in Cantonments. In the process, Fire denied Navy Coach Alexander Tindani a maiden win this season.
“We are winning today…I cannot afford to lose all my matches” Tindani said ahead of the game when contacted by Basketballghana.com but could not deliver on his promise as Fire walked away with its first win of the 2016 season.
The loss condemns Navy to a woeful record in the league having lost all five games against the likes of defending champions Braves of Customs and Air Force.
Despite being by far the most exciting team in the division, the team has consistently failed to win games. A chunk of their defeats have resulted from bad starts which makes up for the close losses it has recorded as the team has to rally from behind to close the deficit.
Navy is in the running to improve its roster as the division’s midseason registration period is ongoing after opening on Monday June 4. The window will be closed on June 6 at the Lebanon House in Tudu.
