University of Connecticut (UConn) Basketball Captain Amida Brimah has reiterated his readiness for the upcoming season as he prepares to lead the Huskies to another national championship. The Ghanaian Center made his intentions known in an exclusive interview with basketballghana.com after appearing on top rated basketball show “Fast Break” on Ghana television channel TV3.

The seven foot Center was confident the 2013 National Champions will have a good season. He said:

“It’s a big year and we have a great team this year so I am working hard and ready to lead this team have a great year and play great basketball”. He was quick to note his ambitions of playing in the NBA were dependent on having a good season.

“That’s definitely the plan but first of all I have to play good and have a great season with the team” he said.

After a promising sophomore year where he averaged nine points and 3.5 blocks, Brimah regressed in his third year. The Accra native, missed 11 games to a finger injury averaging 6.5 points and 2.7 blocks per game.

Since capturing its last national championship in 2013, UConn has fared badly in the following seasons. Last season, the team got ousted in the second round by Kansas University.
