Air Force inflicted another painful loss on Navy courtesy a 46-37 win over the side in the Accra Basketball League Women’s Division. The game ushered in Reformers 62-38 demolition of Fire Service in the following game.

Air Force win puts the side back in second place behind division leaders Braves of Customs in the standings. Playing against the winless Navy was never a daunting and the side proved this rightly by dominating for long stretches in the game.

Air Force destructive trio of Annabel Dsane, Grace Yinamyah and Memuna Mumuni aging delivered for the side as they combined on both ends of the court to secure the win. Their combination was necessary to fizzle out Navy’s strong finish.

Home side Reformers of Prisons also confirmed their dominance over Fire Service by beating them for the second straight time this season. Reformers began strong with Nelly Laryea and Promise Ofori combining neatly to register quick points in the game before Elizabeth Atebkah’s three point shot confirmed the side’s superiority.

Despite the huge loss, 2016 Ghana Basketball Awards Female Player of the Year nominee Carlyn Adjei fared better as she demonstrated supreme ball handling skills to keep her side in the tie in the first half which had Fire facing five and six point deficits respectively.

High School Female Player of the Year nominee Julian Cudjoe once again provided a spark from the bench after missing the team’s 32-33 loss to Galaxy in the previous round.

The 2016 Awards will take place at the Best Western Premier Hotel in Accra on August 12.
