The 2016 After7 Cowbell Fetu Afahy3 Basketball Tournament Day One was completed with four games being honoured at the Cape-Coast Stadium on Friday September 2. Three games were played in the men’s division as Ghana Navy and Reformers of Prisons played the only game in the female division.

Ghana Police was shocked by a Takoradi select side as the team fell 23-25 to the latter in the opening game. The early showing was anything but a prototypical Police performance as the side trailed 2-12 at the end of the first quarter. However, the veteran side settled in the second half to tie the score at 20 but ultimately fell short of climaxing the comeback with a win.

Greater Accra Region select side unsurprisingly beat Eastern Region 31-22 with a decent showing as Accra Basketball League outfit, Tudu Magic trio Emmanuel Amoako, Nii Koi Kotey and David Gyampong led the charge en route to Ghana’s capital region win.

A new look Ghana Navy side won the tussle in the female division against Reformers of Prisons by winning 36-25. Navy’s side looked slightly different from the side that featured in the Accra Basketball League as some players from fellow league side Air Force were added to the roster and the deeper Navy side run rings round Reformers.

The final game of the day had Ho select side beat home side Cape-Coast 46-41 in another shock result that has blown the tourney wide open.

Galaxy’s game against Security Service team will be played today.
