2016 After7 Cowbell Fetu Afahy3 Basketball Tournament Most Valuable Female Player (MVP) Maria Mensah of Ghana Navy has singled out teamwork and support as the main reason behind her triumph in the just ended competition. Abdul Bashir from Kumasi won MVP honors in the male category.

The tourney which had 14 teams in compete in female and male categories had select sides from Ghana’s Greater Accra Region wining both categories respectively.

After being crowned at the special event, Mensah revealed to Basketballghana.com, she was surprised with her win but admitted she was happy.

“It just came unexpectedly and I would say thank you to them for voting me (as the) MVP… with teamwork and the support of my coach too that made me win the award” she said.

Her blend of drives to the basket, pinpoint passes and crisp shooting from distance powered the Alexander Tindani-led Ghana Navy to finish second in the competition. Mensah walked away with products from sponsor Promasidor Ghana Limited-producers of leading dairy product Cowbell.

Galaxy made the podium in third place with Reformers of Prisons missing out after going winless in the competition. Accra Security Service team’s unbeaten streak earned the side a gold medal win in the After7 Basketball Club organized event.
