Peace Hoops 2016 Basketball Tournament Most Valuable Player Edwin “Kontor” Appiah is the latest to commend organizers of the competition which turned out to be a success as Asylum Down and Ridge emerged champions.

Ridge beat home side Galaxy from Tudu 41-28 in the final game to win the tournament created to promote peace awareness ahead of Ghana’s elections in December and was bankrolled by National Democratic Congress Candidate for the Klottey-Korle Constituency, Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings who was present at the event.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com after helping his side to win the competition’s maiden edition, Appiah, who was voted High School Male Player of the Year in 2015, had nothing but great things to say about the competition.
“It was a good one and I pray and hope it happens every year” he said when asked on his thoughts about the competition.

Appiah’s Ridge side dominated the tie for major stretches after recovering from six nothing deficit in the first quarter to win the tie and revenge an earlier loss to Galaxy at the group stage.

Junior Reformers from Osu placed third after beating Teshie Rangers 32-30 in an equally entertaining game that preceded the final.
Ghana Basketball Association Chairman and General Secretary David Addo Ashong and Rafiq Mohammed Arthur were present at the ceremony.
