Teshie Rangers have delivered on the promise of team Coach Wisdom Etsorgali, “to compete” in the side’ debut postseason appearance despite losing 41-66 against Braves of Customs in the opening game.
The young tactician stated in an interview with Basketballghana.com prior to the start of the 2016 Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I postseason, his side though a novice, was going to be hard to beat in the competition.
Rangers did exactly that by staying in touch with the yet to beaten Division leaders through all four quarters of the game to the surprise of all gathered at the Lebanon House Court considering Braves beat Rangers 100-36 in the regular season.
Etsorgali stated, “We are not perturbed at all…we lost terribly against CEPS (Braves) and that was our first time ever playing with CEPS but nonetheless we are not perturbed at all… definitely we are coming to compete”.
However, after trailing 3-12 in the early minutes of the first quarter, Braves finished strongly in the remaining minutes to finish the quarter down 15-21. The side managed to stay in the thick of affairs with a flurry of buried three point shots but the huge disparity in size played into the hands of the bigger Braves side.
DC Dynamics lost 42-47 to Tema Youth in the second game of the round. Tudu Magic will play Reformers of Prisons as Ghana Navy plays Fire Service later today at the same venue.
