Former University of Ghana (UG) Male Basketball Team Captain Abubakar Aziz has commended premium basketball television show “Fast Break” and Host Yaw Sakyi Afari in the wake of the upcoming Radio, Television and Personality (RTP) Awards Ceremony.
The sixth edition of the Awards will take place on October 22 at the Accra International conference Center where multiple outstanding media personalities will be honored for their immense work in the year under review on the prestigious night.
“Fast Break” has been nominated in the Television Sports Program of the Year category and Host Yaw Sakyi Afari is in line to win the Television Sports Show Host of the Year.
Speaking to Basketballghana.com, leader of the all conquering UG team was delighted with earning the prestigious distinction of being the first ever basketball television show to be nominated. “It’s a step in the right direction… promotion of basketball and other sports in the country” he said.
A little under three years since its maiden episode on Ghana channel TV3, Fast Break has emerged as a must watch program between 13:00 and 14:00 GMT every Sunday. Figure heads in basketball have made appearances on the show including Toronto Raptors General Manager Masai Ujiri.
Before graduating, Aziz led UG to win several competitions including the UPAC Basketball Championship and All Africa University Games in Johannesburg, South Africa.
