National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate for Tema Central Constituency, Ebi Bright has noted the importance of the community’s basketball court to the lives of people.

She made the statement in an interview with Basketballghana.com at the maiden edition of the Ebi Bright Basketball Tournament at the Tema Community 4 Court popularly known as Chinese Court.

The one day tournament that she bankrolled exclusively had four male teams and two female sides compete before a distinguished crop of prominent individuals’ courtside including Ghana Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye.

“This is a key social location for us in Tema Central and it does more than just play basketball. This is where talents are unveiled both in sports, music, arts and relationships within the community have been built and strengthened here”.

“Absolutely” the aspiring Member of Parliament responded to questions on the future of the tournament.

Aside funding the tournament, Bright oversaw the renovation of the court’s lighting system.

On the court, Bright’s home side Tema Central beat Flashlights of Tema New Town 44-40 in the final to win the trophy. A select side from Tema beat Accra select side 33-20 in the female matchup. Guard Aninagyei Osei was named Most Valuable Player of the Tournament to complete a massive sweep of the awards.
