Xinjiang Flying Tigers new signing Ben Bentil has made a quick start to life in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) with a splendid 28 point performance in his side’s 139-117 win over Jilin Northeast Tigers.

The 6 foot 8 inch Ghanaian and former Providence College star connected on four of five attempts beyond the three point arc. He blocked a shot and gathered three rebounds in just 22 minutes. His exploits against the 12 placed Jilin side was a welcome relief to the Tigers who were on a two game losing run.

Bentil was signed primarily to replace injured Center Andray Blatche; Blatche played seven plus years in the NBA and had stints at Brooklyn Nets and Washington Wizards.

His scoring output was however upstaged by fellow 2016 Draftee Zhou Qi who scored 29 points to go with seven rebounds and an assist in the winning effort. Qi was drafted 43rd by Houston Rockets.

Bentil got drafted 51st by Boston Celtics in June this year before being released to Indiana Pacers who sent him to its’ affiliate side in the Development League, Fort Wayne Mad Ants. In his only appearance for Fort Wayne, he scored 28 points.
