1793Recently crowned Sprite Ball Champions Opoku Ware School (OWASS) have arrived safely in Ghana’s Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi after winning the tenth anniversary edition of the tournament per Team Coach Alexander Takyi.

A cheque of 10,000 Ghana Cedis, the team’s prize for winning the Championship, was placed against the main window of the school’s bus.

The team departed Accra on the final day of 2016 and arrived in Kumasi a few minutes after midday according to the winning coach in an interview with Courtside Host Yaw Sakyi Afari on Ghana channel Viasat 1 earlier today.

He expressed his delight in winning the school’s first ever Sprite Ball Championship and achieving the remarkable feat of being the first from the region to do so in the boys division.

However, he couldn’t confirm the trophy will be presented to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II stating talks are ongoing.

Takyi was named Coach of the tournament following his side’s win against powerhouse Mfantsipim School in the final. OWASS beat Mfantsipim 27-25 after leading the first half of the game 19-9.

A three point play from Harris Amuzu proved to be the difference and give OWASS the win.
