img-20161230-wa0025The annual celebration of Teshie Rangers Basketball Club-Rangers Conference- will take place later today at the Camp 2 or Mats Court at Teshie. A game between members representing East Teshie Rangers and West Teshie Rangers will climax activities for the day as both teams battle for the Joe Cup.

The event tips off activities for the Accra Basketball League Division I side for the upcoming year particularly the league’s season.

It also provides an avenue for new players to be introduced to the team and see some game action with new teammates.

Teshie Rangers had a good start to life in Ghana’s best basketball league upper division after winning the Division II.

The side avoided the drop by placing eight in the ten team league and made it to the playoffs before exiting the first round following a 41-66 loss to eventual winners Braves of Customs.

Later in the year, the team competed in the Peace HoopsTournament where it placed fourth behind winners Asylum Down and Ridge, silver medalist Galaxy from Tudu and Junior Reformers from Osu.

The tournament was organized to promote peace awareness ahead of Ghana’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections in 2016.
