Icons Basketball Club continues to dominate teams in Ghana’s Central Region as the side beat University of Cape-Coast (UCC) Male Basketball Team 67-60 in a friendly game played at the tertiary institution’s brand new indoor court.

The win was the team’s second in as many games following a 92-91win over University of Education-Winneba in a prior friendly.

The not so high scoring game against the Cape-Coast side featured flashes of brilliance from highly rated trio of Guards Kingsley Quist, Elvis Pobi-Siaw and Center-Forward Joseph Boye.

Despite the low turn in offensive output, the Accra based team succeeded in fending off UCC for the win.

All three players played in the Tema Community Basketball League All Star Game. Pobi-Siaw and Quist also competed in the three point shooting contest and Boye competed in the slam dunk contest that was won by Flashlights’ Gershon Dzorvor.

For UCC, the game was a test ahead of the 7th Mini Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games which starts later today at the University.

The multi sport event will end on January 17 and will have the host team compete against teams from University of Development Studies, University of Energy and Natural Resources among others.

Reigning GUSA, UPAC (Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges) and All Africa University Games Champions University of Ghana, will compete in the basketball event.
