Reigning Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games Basketball Champions University of Ghana (UG) has made a telling statement on its intent to win the mini version of the competition following an impressive 77-44 win over University of Development Studies (UDS).
The game was the first of two scheduled to be honored by UG in Group A which houses University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) and the 30 point margin was a clear indication of the team’s readiness for the challenge ahead.
The side plays UENR on January 8 at the University of Cape-Coast’s (UCC) Gymnasium; UENR lost 44-46 to UDS in the opening game in the group.
In Group B, University of Professional Studies (UPSA) lost again in the competition after falling 64-78 to University of Education-Winneba (UEW).
The team needs a host of factors to go its way to have a chance of making it out of the group.
Host UCC’s 47-44 win over KNUST gave its campaign a boost after succumbing 68-72 to UEW in the first game. UCC plays UPSA in a must win game for both sides as KNUST plays UEW in game KNUST must win to make it out of the group.
