Four teams will make their first appearance in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

Koforidua Technical University, Maritime University College, KAAF University College and All Nations University College will play in the competition for the first time in the 2017 edition due to be held on February 17.

Koforidua is housed in Zone B alongside All Nations University College, KAAF University College and Valley View University. All games will be played on February 24.

Maritime University College finds itself in a tough zone alongside Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Marshalls University College and Ghana Technology University College. Games begin on February 17 at the University of Ghana (UG) Central Court.

Last year’s edition had teams from Ghana’s Northern and Upper West Region make their debuts in the competition with Wa Polytechnic, University of Development Studies and Tamale Technical University represent.

Reigning Champions UG starts its defense of the title on March 10 when it takes on University of Professional Studies, Blue Crest University College and Ho Technical University.

Winners of the seven zones meet in Accra on April 6 and 7 for the national championship.

The top four teams then play on April 8 to determine this year’s winner.
